Founded in 2005 in Vancouver, Canada, by Randy Bishop and Omer Arbel , the lighting design brand Bocci produces real luminous sculptures starting from a research on the physico-chemical qualities of materials. The collections are renamed with simple numbers that highlight their chronological placement in the creative process of the artistic director, the architect and designer of Israeli origins Arbel, and use glass as the main material, skilfully worked by craftsmen trained in Murano. The 73 collection is made up of unique elements in form and modular to create your own “cloud”. The technique used is that of blown glass into a ceramic fabricresistant to high temperatures, which when cooled maintains the given shape. The end result has a texture more like the variegated texture of the fabric rather than smooth, smooth glass.
